Ludwig Gesek

Ludwig Gesek (born November 12, 1904 in Vienna ; † January 25, 1994 there ) was an Austrian popular educator, film scholar and writer.

Life

Ludwig Gesek was editor of the magazine "Der gute Film" from 1931 to 1938, and from 1934 to 1938 he was director of the Institute for Film Culture. In 1949 he became editor-in-chief of "Filmkunst", in 1952 general secretary of the Society for Film Studies. From 1955 to 1979 he was managing director of the Austrian Film Archive . Gesek was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
