Ludwig and Maria Knapp

Ludwig Knapp and his wife Maria owned a sawmill and a farm in Weitra near Gmünd in Lower Austria in 1944 . They took good care of Jewish slave laborers and saved them from deportation to Theresienstadt .

On April 28, 1968, the couple was awarded the honorary title “ Righteous Among the Nations ”.
