Ludwig Philipp Aschoff

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludwig Philipp Aschoff (born November 25, 1758 in Weeze , † June 13, 1827 in Bielefeld ) was a pharmacist.

The son of a Reformed preacher went from 1775 to 1780 in Bielefeld with his uncle, the pharmacist Aschoff, in the pharmaceutical apprenticeship. In 1782 he worked in the court pharmacy in Jever and then went to Halle, where he headed the laboratory of the orphanage pharmacy until 1785. Here he began to be interested in natural sciences and especially botany.

After his return to Bielefeld he worked in his cousin's pharmacy and continued his education. Around 1791 he had passed his exams before the provincial college and was then able to buy his cousin's pharmacy. In 1820 he was one of the founders of the North German Pharmacists' Association.

His son, Ernst Friedrich Aschoff (* April 10, 1792, † May 23, 1863) later took over his father's pharmacy and around 1822 was also able to take over the Neustädter pharmacy in Herford from the widowed Charlotte Katharina Aschoff.
