Ludwig Schwartz (* 1785 in Bocholt ; † 1864 ibid) was a German textile manufacturer.

Ludwig Schwartz comes from a successful family of industrialists in Bocholt. His father Bernhard Schwartz (1754–1826) and his uncle Roetger Gerhard Schwartz had jointly founded a textile factory on February 21, 1774, which Ludwig's father ran under sole responsibility from 1784 on. After Ludwig's death, the company expanded. So he acquired the estate Haus Woord and the surrounding property in order to build several steam-powered weaving and spinning mills there from 1857. He had acquired the necessary knowledge and machines on a trip to England. Ludwig Schwartz was given the honorary title of Commercial Councilor as early as 1855 . After his death in 1864, his widow Theodora Schwartz ran the company and inherited it in 1869 to her sons August (1820–1883), Werner (1830–1915), Peter (1834–1904) and Gottfried (1838–1870).

In 1971 the Schwartz company ceased operations. In Bocholt , Schwartzstraße now runs across former company premises and is reminiscent of one of the local textile dynasties. The Bocholt Textile Museum documents the history of the Bocholt textile industry .
