Ludwig of Acre
Ludwig von Brienne , called Ludwig von Akkon († after September 1297), was Vice Count of Beaumont from the House of Brienne by marriage .
Ludwig was a younger son of Johann von Brienne , king and regent of Jerusalem, Latin co-emperor of Constantinople, from his third marriage to Berengaria of León († 1237), a daughter of King Alfonso IX. of Castile and Leon . His half-sister was Queen Isabella II of Jerusalem .
Together with his older brothers Alfons and Johann , he was sent to the court of King Ludwig IX in 1244 . sent to France.
Ludwig married Agnes von Beaumont, the heir to Richard II. († 1242), Vice-Count of Beaumont. From their right he took over the government of the vice-county. They had seven children:
- Johann († 1306), Vice Count of Beaumont;
- Ludwig († 1333), Bishop of Durham ;
- Margarethe († 1328), ⚭ around 1278 Bohemond IV , count of Tripoli;
- Maria († 1328/1339), ⚭ before 1283 Heinrich III. von Avaugour , lord of Mayenne;
- Isabella († before 1334), ⚭ 1279/1280 John de Vescy , Lord of Alnwick;
- Johanna († 1323), ⚭ around 1286 Guido VII, lord of Montmorency ( list of the Montmorency tribe );
- Henry de Beaumont, 1st Baron Beaumont († before 1340), Vice Count of Beaumont, constable of England.
Ludwig and his wife are buried in the Etival-en-Charnie Abbey , the traditional burial place of the Vice Counts of Beaumont. The reclining figures of their graves are still preserved. The coat of arms provided to Ludwig shows the lion of those of Brienne supplemented with fleur-de-lys .
