Luftgau badge of the Feld-Luftgau-Kommando West France

The Luftgau plaque of the Feld-Luftgaukommando West France was a non-wearable award of the German Air Force during the Second World War , which was to be donated by the General of the Flak Artillery Eugen Weißmann in the summer of 1944 for the members of the Feld-Luftgaukommando West France . However, this was not possible due to a wounding of Weissmann, also because the relevant certificates of ownership were still missing at that time. On July 1, 1944, Weißmann handed over command to his successor, General of the Flak Cartillery, Karl Drum . It was under him that the only official award of the plaque of honor to one took placeAir Force staff assistant held on August 5, 1944.

In bronze crafted medal with a diameter of 42 mm shows on its obverse the cartographic representation of France with indicated rivers. In the center is the Luftwaffe national emblem with the inscription above: ALLES FÜR DEUTSCHLAND . The lapel , on the other hand, shows the six-line inscription within two open laurel branches that are crossed at the bottom and bent upwards: FOR / LOYALTY / SERVICES / IN THE AREA OF / FELDLUFTGAUKOMMANDOS / WESTFRANKREICH . There are also portable variants of the actually non-wearable badge, the appearance of which is similar to the non-wearable variant in the obverse, but only with a diameter of 20.5 mm, with a brooch pin attached to the lapel. This variant was issued to an unknown number of staff assistants shortly before the command was dissolved in May 1945.
