Air cushion jacks

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An air cushion jack or balloon jack is a sack made of tear-resistant plastic with which you can lift a vehicle for repair or maintenance work by filling the sack with the exhaust gases from an engine ( exhaust ) via a hose .

The advantage of an air cushion jack is that it lifts the car relatively quickly and without exertion, and damage to the vehicle paint is avoided. It can also be used on uneven floors, as the air cushion car jack adapts to the surface thanks to the flexible material. The disadvantage is that the sack can be damaged by sharp objects on the vehicle or on the floor. Another disadvantage is that the hose can slip off the exhaust. The car must therefore always be additionally secured during repairs.

Another advantage is the low ground pressure , which allows the air cushion to also be used on soft ground (sand, mud), e.g. for laying sand sheets under . The relatively low weight of the air cushion compared to a metal car jack is also emphasized.
