The Luftsportverein Borken e. V . is a non-profit association that was founded in 1926 and can look back on a long tradition in Borken . Initially it was based on the Lünsberg in the mountain range Die Berge , the Fliegerberg, but had to give way to the barracks and has been at home in Borken-Hoxfeld since 1975.

General

The association consists of around 230 members who are divided into gliding, powered flying and balloon sports.
In addition to the usual infrastructure of an airfield, it also maintains four hangars, a tower, two workshops, a vehicle park and a clubhouse. The club also makes these facilities available to the Bocholt aviation group and the Coesfelder Luftsportverein eV. The 3 clubs form a training community at the Borken-Hoxfeld airfield .

Gliding

The youth work and the training of young aviators is a focus of the LSV Borken and is intensively pursued. The training to become a glider pilot is carried out by the volunteer flight instructors on the training double and, in the later course of the training, single seaters.

The association offers its members a wide range of different types of aircraft, from simple wooden aircraft to modern high-performance gliders made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, which meet every level of training. The aircraft park offers the opportunity for training flights, fun flights around the airfield, aerobatic flights, holiday flights, cross-country and competition flights.

The Luftsportverein Borken has provided both German and world champions in the course of its history. So was z. B. Jörg Weidemann with the German team World Champion 2008. In the decentralized championships, top placings have regularly been achieved in recent years.

Powered flight

In the LSV Borken motor flight is operated in the Motorfluggruppe Borken eV. The aircraft fleet consists of four motor machines, two motor gliders and one microlight aircraft.

Balloon sport

Ballonsport is operated in the LSV Borken by about 12 members of the Ballonsportgruppe Borken eV. The balloon sport group owns a balloon park of two balloons. These are used to make regular trips from the Borken-Hoxfeld airfield.
