Lugano Convention

The Lugano Convention (Lugano Convention on Jurisdiction and the Enforcement of Judgments in Civil and Commercial Matters - Lugano Convention) is an agreement on jurisdiction , recognition and enforcement of judgments between the Member States of the European Union , signed at the end of 2007 Switzerland , Norway and Iceland .

The Lugano Convention applies in civil and commercial law to jurisdiction, the recognition and enforcement of decisions. It aims to largely equate the judgments of the courts of other member states with those of national courts and is based on the EuGVVO .

Tax, customs and administrative matters, as well as the legal capacity of natural persons, marital property regimes, wills and inheritance law, bankruptcies and compulsory settlements, social security and arbitration are excluded.
