Luis Adolfo Siles Salinas (born June 21, 1925 in La Paz , † October 19, 2005 ) was a Bolivian lawyer , politician and former president of Bolivia .

Life

Luis Adolfo Siles was from August 6, 1966 to April 27, 1969 at the time of the presidency of the Air Force General René Barrientos Ortuño (1918-1969) Vice President of Bolivia. Both were elected in the free presidential election of March 3, 1966 with 62% of Bolivia's vote.

After Barrientos Ortuño's accidental death, Dr. Luis Adolfo Siles Salinas the 49th President of Bolivia. His term of office lasted from April 27 to September 26, 1969, when he lost his post in a military coup . The new ruler of Bolivia was a three-man military junta under the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces , General Alfredo Ovando Candia . The new cabinet consisted of left-wing experts and intellectuals.

He was from 1978 to 1987 Chairman of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights , a human rights organization, the Organization of American States (Organization of American States OAS).
