Luis Fernández Oliveira (born January 19, 1980 in O Porriño ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

Fernández's successes as an amateur include the overall victory at the Vuelta a Coruña 2005, in which he also won the fifth stage, and the overall victories at the Vuelta a Galicia and the Vuelta a Goierri in 2004. He was also able to do a part of the day this year Be the first to finish Bizkaiko Bira . In other Spanish amateur races such as the Vuelta a Salnes , he was able to achieve podium positions in stages between 2002 and 2005. After a positive doping test in 2004, he was fined 601 euros.

Fernández began his professional career in 2006 with the Phonak Cycling Team , where he was lined up for the Vuelta a España , which is his only participation in a three-week tour during his career. He finished the race in 90th place overall. After the Phonak team was dissolved at the end of 2006, Fernández moved in 2007 to the Spanish second division Karpin Galicia . After one season, however, he left the racing team again and joined the Portuguese team Barbot-Halcon (named Barbot-Siper in 2009) before ending his active career in 2009.
