Luise Rist

Luise Stefanie Rosine Rist , née Freyler (born February 28, 1877 in Rottweil , † September 10, 1955 in Stuttgart ) was a German politician .

Life

Luise Freyler was born in Rottweil in 1877 as the daughter of Heinrich Freyler. After completing her training at the boarding school of the "Englische Fräulein" in Lindau , she married Josef Rist, professor at the Stuttgart Art Academy.

Luise Rist became involved in Catholic associations at an early stage. In 1918 she took over the leadership of the Catholic Women's Association in Württemberg. In 1919 she was elected to the Württemberg state parliament for the German Center Party . She belonged to this until 1933. She was on the parliamentary committee of her party until 1933, at times also on the Reich and regional committee of the Center Party. In addition, she worked for years as an editor for the women's supplement of the party organ "Deutsches Volksblatt".

In 1933 she was removed from office by the National Socialists , and in the summer of 1944 she was even briefly taken into "protective custody". After the war she was one of the founders of the CDU North Württemberg. In the new party, too, she was involved in a leading position in the women's committee, but for reasons of age she no longer wanted to run for a seat in parliament. Until 1948 she was again at the head of the Catholic Women's Association of the Diocese of Rottenburg .

Luise Rist died in September 1955 after a long illness at the age of 78 in Stuttgart.

Honors

The strictly conservative and deeply religious politician was founded in 1925 by Pope Pius XI. Awarded the Cross of Honor “ Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice ”. In 1953 she received the Federal Cross of Merit.
