Lukas Erler

Lukas Erler (* 1953 in Bielefeld ) is a German writer who mainly devotes himself to environmental and socio-political issues. His debut novel Ölspur was published in 2010 by the Swiss publisher Kein & Aber . So far he has published five crime novels.

Life

Erler grew up in Bielefeld. He studied sociology, philosophy and social history in Marburg. He then completed training as a speech therapist and has been working in the profession since the mid-1990s. He lives in Bad Wildungen with his wife and two sons .

Erler began his writing activity around the mid-2000s. Under the impression of the oil spill when the Prestige sank in 2002, he initially planned to write a non-fiction book on classification societies, but in the course of his research decided to write a detective novel about merchant shipping. His debut novel Ölspur was published in 2010 by the Swiss publisher Kein & Aber and was nominated for the Friedrich Glauser Prize 2011 in the category “Best Debut”. This is the first of three parts about the scientist Thomas Nyström, the other parts were published in 2011 and 2013 by Kein & Aber. His fourth novel Brennendes Wasser was published by Arena Verlag in 2014 . In this book he addresses the dangers of fracking .
