Lukusuzi National Park

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lukusuzi National Park (English Lukusuzi National Park ) is 2540 km² and is located in the Luangwa Valley east of the river just under 100 km north of Chipata in Zambia .

The park is on a plateau a little above the valley and is pretty shabby. Almost half of the park consists of plateau, the other half of rocky terrain. Miombo forest is dominant up to the floodplains on the river banks. There is rolling grassland on the plateau.

It is completely unclear how many animals have survived poaching in recent years. Otherwise, the hyena is the most important hunter here, more than the lion. The species living here today correspond to those in the other Luangwa parks, i.e. elephants, gnu, eland, roan, saber antelope, klipspringer and warthog. A little to the south is the much more attractive South Luangwa National Park , a little to the north is the North Luangwa National Park .
