The second European Basketball Championship of Men ( official: Euro Basket 1937 ) was held from 2 to 7 May 1937 in Riga instead. Lithuania became European champion . Silver went to Italy and France won the bronze medal. With Egypt , for the lack of its own continental competition, a non-European team was part of the EM field for the first time.
Preliminary round
The preliminary round was held in two groups of four teams each. The winner of a game received two points, the loser one point. If a game was tied at the end of regular time, there was extra time. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided against each other.
