The third European Basketball Championship of Men ( official: Euro Basket 1939 ) was held from 21 to 28 May 1939 in Kaunas instead. European champion was the host and defending champion Lithuania , which was the first to be crowned a two-time European champion. Silver went to the 1935 title holder from Latvia , the bronze medal went to the Polish team .
Final round
The European championship was held in a single group with a total of eight teams, the European champion was the first place in the final ranking. The winner of a game received two points, the loser one point. If a game was tied at the end of regular time, it went into overtime. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided against each other.
