Lundey ( German "Puffin Island" ) is a small, uninhabited island in the southwest of Iceland . It belongs to the Reykjavíkurborg municipality .
geography
The island is located in Kollafjörður in the north of the Icelandic capital Reykjavík . It is about 400 meters long and 150 meters wide, its highest point is 14 meters above sea level.
The closest land mass is the island of Geldinganes belonging to the Reykjavík district Grafarvogur 1200 meters south of Lundey. Þerney is 1400 meters east, and Viðey two kilometers southwest. Lundey is part of the municipality of Reykjavíkurborg, but does not belong to any of the ten boroughs of Reykjavíks, but to Græni Trefillinn (Green Belt, Reykjavíks hinterland).

The island is populated by a multitude of birds, such as the puffin that gives it its name , but also the black guillemot , fulmar and arctic tern . Tourist boats often go to the island from Sundahöfn harbor to see the birds.
