Luther Church in Halle (Saale)

The Evangelical Luther Church is a church building in the Lutherviertel in Halle (Saale), south of the city center . The parish belongs to the Halle-Saalkreis parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The building was built according to plans by Raimund Ostermaier in the New Objectivity style. The foundation stone was laid in 1928 on November 10th, Martin Luther's birthday . After only one year of construction, the inauguration took place on November 10, 1929.

The nave has a spacious hall with a recessed rectangular choir. The tower is located on the right side of the entrance gable and forms the structural connection to the neighboring parish hall. It has an open lantern on top. On the facade, the windows and the barrel vault, the Gothic pointed arch is repeated as a supporting motif.

The interior is column-free. The barrel vault is supported by pointed arches made of concrete. The Luther bust in the vestibule was made by the sculptor Wilhelm Groß , as was the crucifix in the chancel.
