The Lutherstift Falkenburg was a Protestant educational institution in Ganderkesee from 1958 to 2012 .

history

The Lutherstift was founded in 1958 when the former Ganderkesee office in Falkenburg was taken over by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover , which handed it over to the Falkenburg Brotherhood. The complex was rebuilt for church purposes and initially served the training of deacons and as a home for confirmation groups. The deacon training was discontinued on October 15, 1971 and was part of the University of Applied Sciences course of the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Hanover . In 1975 the Diakoniekonvent was entrusted by the Hanoverian regional church with the implementation of measures for adult education and advanced training. Up until 2004, a part-time course in religious education was offered at the Falkenburg study site in cooperation with the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences in Hanover .

After the synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover in autumn 2005 decided to discontinue financial support, the Diakoniekonvent Brüder- und Schwesternschaft Lutherstift in Falkenburg e. V. and the Rotenburger Werke . on December 17, 2007 the Lutherstift in Falkenburg non-profit GmbH as an educational center for diakonia and church. Since then, the GmbH has acted as the sponsor of the facility. The close cooperation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church and its Diaconal work continued. The governing body of the Luther Foundation was a board of trustees formed and led by the Hanover Regional Church Office, which was made up of members of the Convention on an equal footing.

The Lutherstift Falkenburg offers subject-specific training, further education and training as well as diaconal qualification for employees in diaconal, church and other social institutions, qualification offers for middle management employees as well as educational and leisure activities for children, young people and adults with and without disabilities.

The Evangelische Zeitung announced on April 1, 2012 in issue 13 N that the Lutherstift Falkenburg would close at the end of April 2012 after the Bremer Residenz-Gruppe withdrew as a planned investor. The Bible barn with its collection of hundreds of Bibles is also affected . The 16 employees have been dismissed. The Lutherstift is not insolvent, all employees would receive what they are legally entitled to. The children's and youth center of the Rotenburger Werke and the emerging hospice mission: the home of the Inner Mission Bremen on the grounds of the Luther Foundation are not affected by the closure .

Buildings

The building stock of the Lutherstift has been continuously expanded since it was founded through acquisitions and new buildings. Today's Laurentius Chapel was built in the former pigsty. In 1960 a guest house was built. In the 1950s, an apprentice home was added by the Wichernstift Elmeloh. In 1981 the Diakoniekonvent built the Laurentiushaus Falkenburg, an educational institution for disabled people. Since 2005 there has been a convent shop with a bookstore, one-world offers and exhibitions.

In January 2015, the Hanover regional church announced the sale of the properties (old office building, guest house, Laurentius chapel) to NORLE gGmbH in Dötlingen.
