Life

After graduating from the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium in Cologne, Lutz Urbach studied municipal administration. After his state examination in 1989, Urbach worked in various positions in the personnel office of the city administration of Cologne. In 1997 he became an assistant to the CDU council group and was responsible for the subjects of "general administration and legal issues", "urban development", "civil engineering and transport", "economy" and "auditing". From 1999 Lutz Urbach was an advisor to Cologne's Lord Mayors Harry Blum and Fritz Schramma. From 2001 to 2009, the graduate in administrative management (FH) was an alderman and treasurer in Hennef . His area of ​​responsibility included the areas of business development, real estate, tourism, city marketing, children, youth and family, sewage and building management. Since 2001 he was also managing director of Stadtwerke Hennef. From 2003 to 2008 he was the honorary chairman of the Kur-Theater Hennef , a listed theater from 1938. Urbach joined the CDU at the age of 18. In Hennef, he was a knowledgeable citizen in several council committees and deputy managing director of the CDU city association. He was also chairman of the CDA / CDU operating group at the city of Cologne for several years . For the mayoral election in Bergisch Gladbach in 2009, he ran for the CDU and the FDP . He won the election with an absolute majority of 50.5% of the votes cast. In the early mayoral election in 2014, Urbach achieved an absolute majority of 50.73% of the votes cast in the first ballot and was confirmed in office for a further six years.
