The Lycée Félix-Faure is one of five Lycées in Beauvais . It is located on the northern edge of the city center. The students come from Beauvais, but also from all over the Oise department . In the 2019/20 school year the school has thirteen classes.

history

The Lycée was founded in 1898. The architect Norbert-Auguste Maillart built the building from regional raw materials such as brick and natural stone from Saint-Maxim. Construction began in 1896 and was completed in 1898. A symmetrical system was built around 3 inner courtyards, with all classrooms each opening onto an open arcade. The hillside location of the Lycées underlines the monumental architecture. During the First World War , the school was used as a hospital for a total of 40,000 wounded from the front. During the Second World War , the German field command was in the building. It was bombed at the time. The namesake of the Lycées is the former President of France Félix Faure .

In 2017 the Lycée Félix-Faure was added to the list of Monuments historiques .

profile

In the Seconde (10th grade) every French student has to choose two Enseignements d'exploration in order to prepare for the specialization for the Baccalauréat from the Première (11th grade). One of the two must have an economic focus. In addition to the Baccalauréat général, there is also the Baccalauréat technologique at the Lycée Félix-Faure.

German or English are offered as the first foreign language, and Spanish as a second foreign language. Italian can also be taken as a third foreign language.

In order to deepen the languages, the subject physics can be taken in English or the subject history in French. In addition to these sections européennes, there is the possibility of acquiring the Abibac , for which the students are taught 5 hours per week in German and literature and 4 hours per week in history-geography in German.

After completing the Baccalauréat, the school offers the opportunity to acquire a Brévet de technicien supérieur (BTS) within two years . These offers relate to the field of trade and business administration. In cooperation with the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM Picardie), a license for trade, sales and marketing or for management and organization can be obtained after a further year .

Partner schools and exchanges

For many years there has been an exchange between a ninth grade and a second with the Uhland-Gymnasium Tübingen .

The AbiBac partner school of the Lycée Félix-Faure has been the Humboldt-Gymnasium Weimar since 2009 , with which an annual exchange between students from the première and the eleventh grade takes place.
