The MÁV series 394 were originally nine locomotives built in 1915/16, which were handed over to other railway administrations in 1918 after their service with the Heeresfeldbahn.

The narrow-gauge steam locomotives of the kkStB U series , three of which came via detours via Poland and Czechoslovakia on Hungarian narrow-gauge railways in 1938/39 , were added to this series.

Other machines of this designation were manufactured by MÁVAG in Budapest in 1949 and were mainly used on the Szalajka Railway . Two copies of this type were made. They were manufactured according to the C'n2T design, had a top speed of 25 km / h, the length over the buffers was 4,966 mm, the height 3,050 mm, the total wheelbase was 2,130 mm, they had two cylinders with a diameter of 220 mm and 290 mm each mm stroke, a steam pressure of 12 bar, the power was specified with 50 hp.
