Mihály Kubinszky (born September 17, 1927 in Sopron ; † October 17, 2016 ) was a Hungarian architect , university professor at the University of Sopron, railway photographer and author of international books.

Life

Mihály Kubinszky was born in Sopron as the son of the hussar officer Eugen Kubinszky (* 1901; † 1962) and Magdolna Östör (* 1903; † 1956). There he attended after elementary school, the Benedictines - school . From 1941 the family lived in Budapest , where he graduated from high school in 1945 . He finished his studies at the Polytechnic University of Budapest (1946–1950) with a diploma and then worked until 1957 in the state construction industry as a qualified architect . From October 1, 1957, he was assistant at the chair for construction at the University of Sopron. In 1960 and 1974 he obtained his doctorate (technical) (two levels) at the Hungarian Scientific Academy in the field of architecture - the history of modern times (19th and 20th centuries) and architecture theory. From 1960 he was senior assistant, 1963 lecturer , in 1975 he became a professor specializing in building design, wood construction, buildings in the wood industry, furniture style. In 1995 he retired as a professor. From 1960 Kubinszky was a member of the commission for the history of architecture at the Hungarian Scientific Academy , 1964–1996 he was its secretary, 1997–2000 its chairman.
