The MÁV series M32 was a three-axle diesel locomotive developed in 1972 and delivered to MÁV and various industrial companies , which was intended for light passenger trains and medium-sized shunting services. The locomotives were used on non-electrified routes with medium loads. In 2011 they were only used sporadically.

history

The M32 was created in 1973 as a further development of the M31 at Ganz-MÁVAG . The type of power transmission was adopted from this, but received an axle drive with cardan shafts .

They mainly carried out shunting work and their speed of 60 km / h and the equipment for electric train heating made them suitable for secondary railway service. A total of 56 locomotives were built for MÁV and designated as the M series 32.2001-2056 . Approximately 20 of the locomotives designated as GANZ DHM 6 were also manufactured for industrial companies, these were given the designation A 28 .

In the meantime, the M32 is no longer needed due to line closures and reduced traffic. It can only be seen occasionally at vehicle shows. The M 32 2055 and the M 32 2040 were preserved . Some industrial version machines were also still in operation in 2014.

technical description

The M32 is a three-axle diesel locomotive with a central driver's cab and asymmetrical stems on both sides. The power transmission elements largely taken over from the M31 are housed in these.

In the driver's cab, there are two operator stations for the train driver placed diagonally depending on the direction of travel. As a prime mover, an eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type was Ganz Jendrassik 8 Jv 17/24 is selected, the min at 1250 -1 257 (350 hp) kW. The power transmission takes place hydrodynamically with a transmission consisting of two flow converters. The locomotive is equipped with a shunting gear for 22 km / h and a track gear for 60 km / h. The oil for the hydrodynamic power transmission is cooled with water by a heat exchanger . The auxiliary operations were essentially taken over by the M31, plus the equipment with electric train heating. The required power was supplied by a heating generator with 70 kVA at 1500 volts.
