Márta Gulyás

Márta Gulyás (* 1953 in Gyula ) is a Hungarian concert pianist and professor of piano and chamber music .

biography

Márta Gulyás studied piano at the Franz Liszt Music University in Budapest with Erzsébet Tusa and István Lantos . In 1976 she received her artistic and educational diploma there. She then completed a post-graduate program at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with Dmitri Bashkirow. 2001 habilitation them at the Franz Liszt University and acquired the title Magistra Habilitatam.

Márta Gulyas has been teaching piano and chamber music at the Franz Liszt University since 1979, first as an assistant and then as a lecturer. For several years she was also the dean of the chamber music faculty . Since 1991 she has also been a visiting professor at the Reina Sofia Music Academy in Madrid (Spain).

In addition to numerous concerts in Hungary, Márta Gulyás has also given concerts in Switzerland, the USA, Germany, France, Italy, England, Ireland, Austria, Poland, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. For several years her focus has been on chamber music.

Márta Gulyás gave and gives master classes in Finland (Riihimäki, Lohia); Sweden (Gothenburg); Italy (Bergamo, Imola, Rome); Spain (Santander, Ávila, Getafe, Salamanca, Valencia, Segovia, Amendralejo, Badajoz, Cáceres, Palma); Greece (Athens); Germany (Weimar, Pommersfelden, Würzburg); Austria (Reichenau, Salzburg); Turkey (Cappadocia, Istanbul); Japan (Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Okinawa) and Hungary (Keszthely, Békéscsaba, Miskolc, Szeged, Győr).

Márta Gulyás is a member of the jury for the award of Wardwell Fellowships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . She was president of the preselection jury and a member of the jury at the Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition in 2012, 2015 and 2018. She has given repeated interviews on radio and television.

Márta Gulyás speaks Hungarian, Russian, German, English, French, Spanish and Italian.
