Michael Traut

Michael Traut (born December 18, 1964 in Tübingen ) is a Brigadier General of the German Air Force .

Promotions

In 1983, Traut joined the German Air Force as a basic military service provider . In 1984/85 he took part in the 52nd Air Force Officer Candidate Course (OATrDLw) at the Air Force Officer School in Fürstenfeldbruck and studied in 1985/86 in the computer science department of the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich in Neubiberg. From 1986 to 1988 he was a system operator and programmer in the Air Force Materials Office in Cologne.

He was then trained and used as a radar control officer at the 33 Telecommunications Regiment in Goch. From 1990 to 1992 he was a teaching officer for radar control at the Air Force 1 technical school in Erndtebrück. Subsequently, he was a radar control, air situation and operations command officer there.

From 1997 to 1999 he completed the 42nd General Staff Service National Air Force course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg and in 1999/2000 the Advanced Command and Staff Course No. 3 at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Bracknell (MA in Defense). In 2000 he became the head of the Armaments Department in the Air Force Armaments Department at the Air Force Office in Cologne. In 2002 he switched to the Air Force Command in Bonn as a Conceptual Basics Advisor . From 2005 to 2007 he was the commander of operational command area 4 in Aurich. In 2007 he was the Commodore Squadron Mazar-e Sharif in Afghanistan. In the same year he was transferred to the Air Force Command in Cologne as a group leader . From 2010 to 2013 he was head of division in the command staff of the armed forces in Bonn.

From 2013 to 2016 he was Head of the Armed Forces Training Department in the Armed Forces Base Command in Bonn, before taking command of the Air Force Officer School from Brigadier General Bernhardt Schlaak on September 21, 2016 . He handed this over to Brigadier General Stefan Scheibl on August 14, 2020 , and has since been a course participant at the Royal College of Defense Studies in London , Great Britain .

Private

Traut is married and has two daughters.
