Märchenbrunnen on Neustädter Platz

The fairy tale fountain on Neustädter Platz (formerly Paul-Markowski- Platz) was built in a central location in the Neustädter See residential area in Magdeburg as a fountain designed by Annedore and Wolfgang Policek and inaugurated on May 23, 1982.

The fountain is amoeba-shaped . Similarly rounded plateaus are stacked on top of each other in the middle of the fountain. There are six columns of different heights or fantasy creatures with fountains. The columns and fantasy creatures made of concrete were originally decorated with large areas of colored mosaics , but large parts of them have been lost over the years. As part of the redevelopment of the square, the fountain was given a new color version in very strong colors instead of the mosaics. The well surround and the plateaus have been preserved in their original state (light-colored cast stone).
