The Chinese national men's volleyball team is a selection of the best Chinese players represented by the China Volleyball Association in international tournaments and internationals.

history

World Championship

China took part in a volleyball world championship for the first time in 1956 and finished ninth. The Chinese missed the 1960 tournament, after which they finished ninth twice. After missing again in 1970, there was a 15th place in 1974. Two seventh places followed, and in 1986 China finished twelfth. In 1990 the People's Republic was not there. From 1994 to 2010 she always achieved placements between 13 and 19.

Olympic games

When they first competed, China finished eighth in Los Angeles in 1984 . As hosts of the 2008 Games in Beijing , the Chinese lost the quarter-finals against eventual finalists Brazil and finished fifth.

Asian Championship

At the premiere of the Asian Volleyball Championship in 1975, China came in third. In 1979, the People's Republic became Asian champions for the first time with a final victory against South Korea. Four years later they were defeated by hosts Japan in the final. The same result came in 1987. Two third places followed. In 1993, China missed the medal ranks for the first time in fourth. Two years later they lost to the Japanese for the third time, but in 1997 they defeated their big rivals in the final. In 1999 they defended the title against Australia. After a fourth place in 2001, China hosted for the first time in 2003 and lost to South Korea in the final. In 2005 there was the fourth defeat in the final against Japan. China finished fourth in the 2007 tournament.

World cup

China took part in the World Cup for the first time in 1981 and achieved the best result so far with fifth place. From 1995 to 2003 there were three other entries, which ended in places eight, eleven and ten.

World league

The premiere of the world league ended China as the worst of eight teams. Two ninth and one seventh place followed. After that, there were three double-digit results in four years. In 1996, China achieved its best result so far in sixth place. After a four-year break, the People's Republic returned in 2002 in ninth place. Two years later there was tenth place and after another year off, the Chinese reached 13th place. In the following two competitions, they climbed from ninth place to seventh place in 2008. After finishing 13th and 15th in the following years, the Chinese did not take part in the 2011 competition.
