The Australian National Men's Volleyball Team is a selection of the best Australian players who represent the Australia Volleyball Federation in international tournaments and internationals.

history

World Championship

When it first took part in a volleyball world championship , Australia did not get past 22nd place in 1982. When they competed for the second time in 1998, the Australians achieved their best result with 17th place. At the tournaments in 2002 and 2006 , they finished 19 and 21.

Olympic games

In 2000 in Sydney , Australia hosted the Olympic tournament for the first time and finished eighth. At the 2004 Games , Australia finished eleventh. Australia could not qualify for Beijing 2008 .

Asian Championship

The first Asian volleyball championship took place in Australia in 1975 and the hosts finished fourth. The same result came four years later. After that the placements got worse; Via sixth place it went down to ranks eleven and ten. When the title fights took place in Australia for the second time in 1991, the hosts returned to fourth place. After finishing sixth and fifth, the Australians achieved the medal ranks for the first time in 1997, behind China and Japan . Two years later they were only defeated by the Chinese in the final. In 2001 they were beaten by hosts South Korea in the final. It was followed by places four and eight. In 2007 Australia became Asian champions for the first time after beating Japan.

World cup

Australia took part in the World Cup for the first time in 2007 and finished eighth.

World league

In 1999, Australia finished tenth in its only participation in the World League .
