The Thai women's national volleyball team is a selection of the best Thai female players represented by the Volleyball Association of Thailand in international tournaments and internationals. The women's volleyball games have been followed with great interest by the Thai public, especially since winning the 2013 Asian Cup in their own country.

history

World Championship

When they first participated in a volleyball world championship , the Thai women reached 15th place in 1998. Four years later it was only enough for 17th place. In 2006 they did not qualify for the finals. In 2010 they took part again and reached 13th place, the best performance of the Thai team so far.

Olympic games

Thailand has never qualified for the Olympic Games.

Asian Championship

In their first Asian volleyball championship in 1987, the Thai women finished fifth. In the following two tournaments they each performed a place worse and could not benefit from the home advantage in 1991. After seventh place in 1993, they took fifth place in 1995 - again in front of their own audience - and in 1997. With fourth place in 1999 they advanced to the top three teams at the third Asian Cup in their own country in 2001. They then finished fourth and sixth, before returning to third place as hosts in 2007. In 2009 they became Asian champions for the first time in Hanoi. In 2011 it was only enough for fourth place in Taipei. In 2013 they won the championship again in their native Nakhon Ratchasima.

World cup

Thailand finished tenth at the 2007 World Cup .

World Grand Prix

The Thai women have participated in the World Grand Prix every year since 2002 with only one interruption (2007) . In the first four years, they gradually deteriorate from eighth to twelfth place. In 2006 they finished eleventh. In 2007 they did not take part due to scheduling problems because there was a time overlap with the 2007 Summer Universiade in Bangkok. In 2008 they came in 11th again. In 2009 they were eighth and in 2010 they were tenth. In 2011 they climbed to sixth place and in 2012 to fourth place, the best result so far for the Thai women at a World Grand Prix. In 2013, however, it was only enough for 13th place.

Southeast Asian Games

At the Southeast Asian Games, the Thai volleyball women have won the gold medal 11 times in 15 participations, including without interruption in the competitions from 2001 to 2013. There are also two silver and two bronze medals.
