The North Korean national women's volleyball team is a selection of the best North Korean female players represented by the Volleyball Association of the DPR Korea in international tournaments and internationals.

history

World Championship

North Korea first took part in a volleyball world championship in 1956 and finished eighth. Six years later, the North Korean women took tenth place. They celebrated their greatest success in 1970 when they came third. In 1986 they did not get past 14th place.

Olympic games

In the only participation in the Olympic tournament, North Korea won the game for bronze against neighboring South Korea in Munich in 1972 .

Asian Championship

The women from North Korea made their first appearance at the Asian Volleyball Championships in 1989 and finished fifth. Two years later, they finished fourth, just behind South Korea. After finishing ninth in 1993, they didn't come back until 2005 and finished seventh.

World cup

North Korea has never competed in the World Cup .

World Grand Prix

The World Grand Prix has so far taken place without North Korea.
