Mouse Castle

In the hunter's language, a mouse castle is a structural construction that offers the best possible conditions for the residence and reproduction of mice and thus serves as a lure for the hunt for foxes or the winter feeding of owls and other predators of the mice. The construction of a mouse castle should take place in dry locations and have a spatial extension of 1 m 3 . It usually consists of a roofed wooden structure that is filled in layers with straw or stones for nest building and with grain or mill waste as a feed reservoir.
