Mícheál Ó hUiginn

Mícheál Ó hUiginn (* 1942 ) is a former Irish politician .

Ó hUiginn belonged from 1964 to 2004 when he retired, the City Council Galway ( Galway City Council ) to. During this time he was mayor of the city a total of three times, from July 1972 to June 1973, from July 1979 to June 1980, and from July 1995 to June 1996. During his second term as mayor, Pope John Paul II visited , who was on a Tour of Ireland located on September 30, 1979 the city.

Ó hUiginn is Director of Ó hUiginn Teoranta, Galway and a member of the Governing Authority of the National University of Ireland, Galway . On June 27, 2008, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws by the National University of Ireland, Galway .
