As furniture elevator or building elevator is called a mounted on a chassis modification of a sloping elevator , on a telescopically extendable support a platform can be moved in the. The chassis can be a truck or a trailer. As a rule, these are built on chassis with a permissible total weight of 7.5 t and can therefore still be driven with the old class 3 driving license.

One of the first manufacturers of construction hoists was the Klaas company. The first construction hoists were built here in 1947.

Since 1974, mobile furniture elevators, derived from the mobile inclined construction elevators, have been equipped with modified conveyor slides into so-called "furniture platforms". When folded out, these can also transport large-volume pieces of furniture . The most important distinguishing feature between furniture and construction hoists is the conveyor carriage. In furniture elevators, this slide is a closed box with the side walls that can be folded down. This means that large and bulky goods can also be conveyed. The side walls of the conveyor carriage are fixed in the construction hoists.

Due to the special requirements (also due to the StVO ) in terms of mobility, load capacity, telescopic height and dead weight, furniture elevators have been developed into high-tech machines.

Manufacturer of mobile furniture and construction lifts

  • Böcker Maschinenwerke in Werne ad Lippe
  • Klaas inclined lifts in Ascheberg (Westphalia)
  • Hermann Paus machine factory
  • Teupen Maschinenbau (production was discontinued in summer 2009)
  • Emminghaus mechanical engineering

disadvantage

One disadvantage of the inclined elevator concept is that the back of the roof cannot be reached. On the other hand, inclined lifts have a lower load-bearing capacity than cranes and the loads have to be transported on the roof by hand. With a truck crane, for example, the material can be brought directly to the site.

safety

For commercial mobile construction and furniture lifts in Germany, an annual safety check according to UVV (according to BGV D7 guideline of the professional association) in connection with the VDE regulations is required. Wearing protective clothing for commercial operations is a prerequisite for proper operation.
