The Mühlgraben ( Polish Młynówka ) is a right branch of the Oder in Opole . The island of Pascheke is located between the Oder and the Mühlgraben . Originally the Mühlgraben was the main river of the Oder near Opole.

history

The Mühlgraben became a branch of the Oder in 1600 when it changed its course to the west after a flood. The Pascheke became an island between the new main stream of the Oder and the old main stream. The old town of Opole, which previously lay directly on the main stream of the Oder, was now separated from it by the Pascheke. The name Mühlgraben first appeared in 1784 . He received this because of the two water mills that were attached to him at that time.

From 1860 to 1913, the Mühlgraben served as a ship harbor, which is why it was also given the name Winterhafen.

Seven bridges currently cross the Mühlgraben, including the Schlossbrücke and the Pfennigbrücke .

By the end of 2011, the Mühlgraben was rebuilt. A boulevard was built and new plants were added to give the city a greener and more beautiful image.
