Coburg waste-to-energy plant

The waste-to-energy plant in Coburg is a CHP plant in Neuses near Coburg .

The MHKW is responsible for the districts of Coburg, Kronach, Lichtenfels and the city of Coburg. Around 135,000 tons of waste are burned there every year, generating electricity and district heating . The old coal-fired power station of the city of Coburg could be replaced by the waste-to-energy plant. The MHKW is owned by the association for waste management in Northwest Upper Franconia . It feeds a 4.3 km long district heating pipe to the municipal works overland works Coburg (SÜC).

history

The waste heating plant was built in the 1980s and went into trial operation in 1989. In the early 1990s, the filter systems were improved in accordance with the guidelines of the Federal Immission Control Act .
