The Münzer were one of the leading Bernese notable families in the 13th and 14th centuries. The family's activity as mint master in Bern , Switzerland gave it its name .

history

The family was first mentioned in documents under Werner Münzer from 1246. The family's possessions were mainly in the Gürbetal . The family's wealth was based on the office of the Bernese mint master. They came into conflict with the noble von Bubenberg family at the end of the 13th century . Over time, the people of Münzer managed to marry into noble families in the city of Bern. At the end of the 13th century, the Münzer held various offices in the city of Bern.

The family went out around 1400 with Laurenz's great-nephew Werner, Mr. zu Burgistein and co-lord of Hindelbank.

Blazon : a blue bar in gold. As a crest, a man's trunk with pointed cap, trunk and cap in the tincture of the shield. The helmet covers are gold on the outside and blue on the inside.
