Mývatnsöræfi

The Mývatnsöræfi is an uninhabited area in northern Iceland .
Öræfi is the Icelandic word for desert and wasteland . The area lies east and south-east of the Mývatn and extends to the Jökulsá á Fjöllum . A large part of the Ódáðahraun and mountains like the Búrfell and the Herðubreið lie in the Mývatnsöræfi.
