The M621 is an automatic cannon of the French arms manufacturer Nexter Systems in caliber 20 mm and is mostly used as a helicopter, ship -board weapon or as a remote control weapon platform on various ships and land vehicles, in the fight against ground and air targets, as a fire support as well as fighting in built-up area.

General

The automatic cannon was developed by the predecessor company, the state-owned Giat Industries (Groupement Industriel de l'Armement Terrestre).

The Federal Office for equipment, information technology and use of the Armed Forces , commissioned in 2020, the manufacturer of the delivery of seven weapons systems in order to try to autonomous combat vehicles. Delivery is scheduled for July 30, 2020.

Among other things, a variant of the M621 is used in the French version of the Eurocopter Tiger .

The GIAT 30 is a structurally identical 30 mm version .
