MIL-C-5541

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MIL-C-5541 describes a chromating process in which a protective film is applied to aluminum surfaces to protect them from corrosion and to facilitate the application of paint .

The color of this chromating can range from colorless to golden to shimmering brown. Before treatment, the surface must be free of dents, pressure marks, scratches or the like.

With this surface refinement, there are no dimensional deviations such as B. by thick layers of paint.

  • Class 1A serves as corrosion-resistant protection as well as to facilitate paint absorption.
  • Class 3 also serves as corrosion protection, but also specifically for electr. Devices and apparatus where contacts with low resistance are required.
