The MMV Bank GmbH (formerly MKB Central Bank GmbH) is a bank of medium size, which date back to the year 1950th It belongs to the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg . In essence, MMV Bank deals with the financing of mobile assets for commercial customers and the investment business for private and commercial customers. Their headquarters are in Koblenz .

history

In 1950, Josef Horbach (1902–1982) founded the Mittelrheinische Merenkredit-Gesellschaft Dr. Horbach & Co. KG. The Koblenz location came about because the approval process of the French occupation government was one week faster than that of the British occupation government, which was responsible for the alternative location in Bonn. The point in time of the establishment, during the first period of the new German mark, was particularly characterized by an undersupply of large parts of the population and an enormous surge in demand. The bank's primary activities were private consumer credit transactions, particularly to finance furniture from Horbach's furniture store "Europa Möbel". As one of the first installment banks in Germany, the business model quickly met with approval and developed accordingly quickly. The equity increased by 1960 from 50,000 DM to over 2 million DM.

In 1952 the commercial credit company was converted into Mittelrheinische Kundenkreditbank Dr. Horbach & Co. KG renamed. This signed the first factoring contract in Germany in 1958. In 1963, the company entered the leasing business with its subsidiary Mittelrheinische Maschinen-Vermietungsgesellschaft mbH (today MMV Leasing GmbH). In 1976 the Berliner Bank , the Landessparkasse-Girokasse public bank and the Württembergische Kommunale Landesbank entered as new shareholders, whereupon the legal form of the MMV Bank changed to a GmbH. The founder Josef Horbach left the company in 1981 after 31 years as a partner. Since November 1, 1991, the bank has been located at Ferdinand-Sauerbruch-Strasse 7 in Koblenz . Previously, the head office was for many years on Friedrich-Ebert-Ring, also in Koblenz. In 1999 MMV Bank becomes a 100% subsidiary of Landesbank Baden-Württemberg  (LBBW) (which was newly founded at the time ). The bank has been operating under the name MMV Bank since March 2019. The companies of the MMV Group are under uniform management.
