MK Helicopter MK-3

The MK Helicopter MK-3 is a helicopter from the German manufacturer MK Helicopter , which is currently under development. It is a modern three-seat, single-engine helicopter with a composite fuselage and a skid landing gear. A glass cockpit is provided for flight monitoring . The lift is provided by a two-blade main rotor, also made of composite materials, while a normal two-blade tail rotor compensates for the torque. A special feature is the use of a diesel engine as the drive source. The French SMA SR305 was chosen for this. A Thielert motor could also be used in its place , but this would require the entire drive mechanism to be redesigned. The designer of the MK-3 and co-founder of the company, Uwe Mathes, left the company in 2005.

The company's goal is to penetrate the piston-engine helicopter market with the MK-3, which is represented, for example, by the Robinson R22 . Certification according to EASA and FAA Part 27 is sought. The sales price should be around 300,000 euros.
