The Modified Medical Research Council (mrc) Questionnaire for Assessing the severity of breathlessness is a division of shortness of breath ( dyspnea ) of COPD -Patients on the floor of subjective patient information. The higher the grade, the stronger the shortness of breath.

mMRC grade 0: shortness of breath during heavy exertion.

mMRC grade I: shortness of breath when walking quickly on the flat or when climbing slightly.

mMRC grade II: Walking more slowly on the flat than peers due to shortness of breath or need to take breaks to breathe.

mMRC grade III: shortness of breath when walking 100 m or after a few minutes.

mMRC grade IV: shortness of breath that prevents leaving the house or shortness of breath when dressing / undressing.

The mMRC is included in the current GOLD guideline 2011 and is an alternative assessment of the symptoms to the CAT . Grades II to IV stand for increased symptoms and cause severity grades B (if there is a low risk of exacerbations) or D (if there is a high risk).
