MOPITT ( Measurements of Pollution in the Troposphere ) is a scientific instrument that aboard the Terra satellite of NASA was launched in the 1999th The instrument measures the occurrence of carbon monoxide at different altitudes in the lower atmosphere using gas correlation spectroscopy . The instrument was funded by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) .

technology

The MOPITT system is an instrument aligned vertically to the earth, which measures infrared radiation at 4.7 μm and 2.3 μm wavelength. It uses correlation spectroscopy to calculate the carbon monoxide deposits in the lower atmosphere.
