MOVE IT! Film festival for human rights and development

The MOVE IT! Film Festival in Dresden is a film festival with a focus on human rights and development. 2004 by Akifra e. V. founded, it takes place annually in November in the Thalia cinema . The festival usually shows current national and international documentaries and fiction films related to human rights and development , mostly premieres in Dresden, over seven days . The film screenings are framed not only by film discussions with directors, producers, activists and experts, but also by concerts, peace slams, cooking actions and other event formats.

The film educational accompanying program MOVE IT! On the festival weekend, Young will be presenting two films for children and young people that can be seen in the afternoon screening.

As the festival highlight, Akifra e. V. has been awarded the "Dresden Film Prize for Human Rights and Development" since 2015 to a film selected by the festival jury. The prize is endowed with 2000 euros. Prize winners in 2015 were God Is Not Working On Sundays by Leona Goldstein, 2016 Starless Dreams by Mehrdad Oskouei and 2017 Welcome to refugeestan by Anne Poirét.

Outside the festival period, film evenings take place at various venues in Dresden.

The MOVE IT! Filmfestival works with cooperation partners from the culture and film industry as well as with development policy initiatives and actors.

For his work in education for sustainable development, the two projects MOVE IT! Film Festival and MOVE IT! YOUNG youth film program with the award of the Local Agenda 21 for Dresden e. V. 2016.
