The container ship type MPC Neptun 900 of the Neptunwerft in Rostock was built in a series of seven units.
history
The seven ships of the MPC 900 series were ordered for construction from the Neptun shipyard. This took over the construction of the first four ships and a hull . After the launch of the last Neptune building ever, the Kapetan Moshinskiy , the shipyard stopped shipbuilding and concentrated on repairs and non-shipbuilding production. The Neptun-Warnow shipyard in Rostock / Warnemünde was responsible for the prefabricated construction of the hull and the construction of two more ships.
details
The ships are designed as multi-purpose dry cargo ships. They are mainly used in container transport. The capacity was initially 902 TEU, which was later increased to 1038 TEU, the number of connections for refrigerated containers is 100. The ships in the series were retrofitted with three cranes each with 40 tons of lifting capacity, some units were subsequently given two more powerful 80 tons -Cranes to be able to transport heavy goods.
The propulsion of the ships consists of a DMR two-stroke diesel engine of the Sulzer license type 5RTA58 manufactured in Rostock with an output of around 7,950 kW. The engine acts on the shaft generator and the controllable pitch propeller via a gearbox . The maximum speed is just under 17 knots. There are also three auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator available. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
Individual chambers are available to accommodate the crew.
