The MRVZN Moringen is a forensic clinic in Moringen . It is part of the Lower Saxony Prison Center .

history

The house was built from 1738 to 1745 as an orphanage for nobles, from 1818 it was correctional , 1838 a police prison since 1871, a timbered house .

In the time of National Socialism it was the Moringen concentration camp outpost . From April 1933 to July 1933 it served as a camp for men, from June 1933 to March 1938 for women, and from June 1940 until the end of National Socialism for young people.

After the Second World War, Polish refugees were initially housed. In 1948 it was taken over by the state of Lower Saxony under the name "Landwerkhaus", and mentally ill offenders were also accommodated here.

In 1954, the focus was shifted from educational to neurological tasks. From 1966 the house was called the Lower Saxony State Hospital Moringen.

An administrative reform in 2012 led to the merger of the Moringen and Brauel state hospitals and the Bad Rehburg department since 2011 to form the state operation "Precautions Center Lower Saxony MRVZN".
