The AutoGyro MTOsport is a gyrocopter company AutoGyro from Hildesheim .

The MTOsport is a further development of the previous model HTC MT-03 - the first ultralight gyrocopter approved in Germany - from the manufacturer HTC, from which the company AutoGyro emerged. It belongs to the family of air sports equipment and is a two-seat aircraft in tandem arrangement. According to German law, the maximum take-off weight is 450 kg. The identical MTOsport is approved in Great Britain up to 500 kg MTOW (Maximum Take-Off Weight).

Like all gyroplanes, the MTOsport is characterized by extremely short take-off and landing distances ( ESTOL ) and an improved speed range from 30 km / h (minimum speed without sinking) to 185 km / h Vne (velocity never exceed) compared to the previous model.

The improved performance data of the MTOsport result from the aerodynamic optimization of the predecessor model: Due to the slight forward inclination of the rotor mast and a corresponding raising and forward inclination of the tail unit, the nose of the airframe has to be lowered much less during fast cruise than in the previous model and the MTOsport is therefore more horizontal. This comparatively minor modification significantly reduces the drag, which is higher than that of fixed-wing aircraft, and enables a top speed to be 25 km / h faster. The modification also brings an improvement in the general flight characteristics such as reduced vortex formation, improved vibration behavior and better gust stability (which is generally very high in gyroplanes due to the gyroscopic stability of the rotor).
