MSBS M20

The M 20 were French ballistic nuclear missiles that were stationed on submarines . The rockets were put into service in 1977 together with the fourth submarine of the Redoutable class , the L'Indomptable (S 613) . The only difference between the missiles and their predecessors of the M 2 type was the significantly higher nuclear explosive power of the warhead .

In 1980, the Le Tonnant (S 614) armed with the same missiles entered service. All older submarines of the Redoutable class were then equipped with M 20 missiles.

The M 20 were from 1985 by the much heavier M 4 replaced.
