Missile M5

M 5 was a planned on submarines stationed ICBM the French Navy . The nuclear missile had a planned range of 11,000 km and should be used by the nuclear submarines of the Triomphant class . The missile was intended to be the successor to the M 4 and M 45 . For cost reasons, the performance of the design was reduced. The result of the cost optimization was the cheaper and less powerful M 51 .

The M 5 was just a draft. The cheaper M51 was first launched on November 9, 2006. The test was successful.
